Life Notes

Let your mind start a journey through a strange new world. Leave all thoughts of the world you knew before. Let your soul take you where you long to be...Close your eyes let your spirit start to soar, and you'll live as you've never lived before.

Living Life in the Rear-view Mirror
I was taking a slipway this morning in the traffic when I briefly glanced up in my rear-view mirror. I did so just long enough to see that there was a car behind me. As I looked to the front I noticed the car in front of me had suddenly slowed dramatically. I slowed down quickly but with caution so that the driver behind me also had time to slow down. As I proceeded I began to think about how many people live in the rear-view mirror and yet wonder why they continue to have ‘accidents’.
If we take the road as an analogy for our journey life, the rear-view mirror is the past, the road ahead is the future and the car is the ‘vehicle’ that moves our soul otherwise known as the body and mind.
For the most part people act in reaction to their past continuously fearing that the same past will repeat itself or sometimes so focused on the distant future that they are unable to notice that they have taken the wrong off-ramp and will not reach their chosen destination. As we manifest what we place our attention on, we find our worst fears manifesting yet without an understanding why.
If we go back to the car analogy; we need to look in our rear-view mirrors every now and then to reflect. We also need to have our eyes on the road ahead but unless we completely aware of where we are right now and respond accordingly, we may have or even cause an ‘accident’ for what is an ‘accident’ but the result of an unconscious act.
Being empowered in our lives means that we have a vision for where we want to go, we occasionally reflect on our past as it gives us insight and we make decisions based on what presents itself to us in any given moment. After all, it is only in the present moment that we are able to identify opportunity, create joy, be compassionate and loving and experience intuition.
With that in mind, and although I’m more of a Jeep fan (Life without limits), I think Nissan may have a very strong point “Life’s a journey, enjoy the ride”
